Good Points: easy to understand online
Bad Points: none
the junior isa in family investment is easy to understand. they have a free phone line to call which is quite handy when you have any questions or queries. however i dont like the fact that they dont have cash isa. all their isas are based on stock and share performance which means years later you may not get what you put in originally. also like all other child fund, the money can only be withdrawn after the child turns 18. parents have no right to take the money out. i am not sure if that is everyone's wish after years later. :)

Good Points: Easy to read site
Bad Points: 1.5% annual fee + 0.5 fee?
the website is easy to read and the staff are friendly. Also Family Investment offer Boots voucher with under certain direct debit amount which comes in handy. However, the problem with Family Investment's Junior ISA, they only offer stock and share ISA which means the money you put in may not return 100% or even much lower than what you originally invested in if the market perform badly. I do not know whether they will return much better as I only started putting money in. There are obviously many years to see before I can comment on it. The fee is a killer!!!

first signed my daughter up when i received a government grant for a child trust fund, the customer service is very very good, and would reccomend them to all my friends and family members. the interest goes up and never goes below what i originally deposited, it is very handy also for other family and friends to deposit cash or cheques or bank drafts to the account and i was able to obtain more forms from just one phonecall. you get little slips that allow you to deposit money by post and also a phone number where you can pay by direct debit.

I reallt do highly recommended this investment plan to anyone who is thinking of setting one of these up. Everyone is so friendly and if there is anything that you do not understand then the telephone staff will easily help you sort things out and get things back on track. You can also ring up anytime and ask any questions you might have, whether it be a couple of weeks later or a year or so later. I did not know which investment plan to use when my son was born, so i requested a free information pack and i made my mind up straight away.

also i would recoment this page to a few of my friends with children as it could work for them and me when i get my soother but really its got to work for our children.
I also have to say that you sould put more colour on the screen and make look like its for children and give more options on the soothers because they like to be entertained and giving them choices will entertain them more.

I have opened a children trust fund (ctf) account for my first daughter born in 2009 and when my second daughter arrived I was disappointed there was not the option to open a children trust fund account for her too. when the governmnt has announced that the junior isa was going to introduced as an alternative to the ctf account I have soon considered applying for one. I have compared various junior isa and this seemed a good product and not that dissimilar to the ctf account for m elsest daughter. overall I am satified with what it offers. we pay montly by direct debit and it's reassuring that when my daughters will be 18 they will have a pot of savings that hopefully they will use senibly.

Good Points: save for the family
Bad Points: nothing really
You can open a Family Investments Junior ISA by committing to invest as little as £10 a month or by investing a lump sum of at least £500.
From 6th April 2012 you can also open up your Junior ISA by transferring at least £750 from an existing Junior ISA held with to another provider.
You don't have to maintain monthly payments or make any additional payments if you don't want to; but, as the money is invested in stocks and shares, you should expect the money to remain invested for at least five years.
All payments made into a Junior ISA are considered a gift to the child and cannot be returned.
The money in the account can only be taken out by the child and only once they reach 18. Found this very usefull

This is a very good product. I have got one for each of my children. I have four children and one for each of them. I like to pay into it. It is really easy to pay in to it when I want to. It will be good when the kids can get the money out of it when they are older. I really like it. It gives me peice of mind. I hope the children all go to university and this money can help them out. This product is really useful and good. I have opened one for each child and it will be paid to each of them. It is easy to see how much is paid in so I can try to keep them equal

This is a great way to save for my childs future. This gives me peace of mind, knowing they will have something behind them when they need financial support. Very easy to set up and a great idea for any new little ones in your family. With the current state of the british economy everyone is feeling the squeeze and who knows what may happen in the future. A limit of how much you can save each year so as not to spoil them! I would recommend this to anyone looking to provide a little security and invest in their childrens future.

when we took out the account they explained it in a very clear way and spoke to my godson as well as the adults with him.my godson was very happy at opening an account in his name and had a very good sense of pride as he can now save like a 'grown up'

I like the whole concept of the idea. Setting up a trust fund for your child is a great way of investing for there future. Securing money now makes it easier for your child to get ahead in the future. I always encourage my child to put away a % of his birthday / Christmas money each year that way it further boosts is I S A. If somebody was unsure about whether they should open up a family investment - Junior I S A I would have to sit them down and talk them through all the good things that can come out of starting such a thing.

Good Points: This was an incredibly easy account to set up. My particular interest was the accessibility of information, for example with regard to ethical investing.
Bad Points: No literature/documents aimed at child - e.g. a child-friendly certificate could be provided.
Accessibility:
When researching providers, it is clear that Family Investments are well ahead of the competition. The website is professional, accessible, easy to navigate and eye-catching.
Provider:
Fees are comparabale for similar finds however a big draw is the strength and reputation of the provider.
Freebies:
Like many similar providers a free "gift" was sent, a £10 voucher if I recall.
Development areas:
My one recommendation to improve this account would be the provision of some child-friendly materials, e.g. a certficate, or even a mascot so that there is something tangible to show them hen discussing saving.
Summary:
Overall this is an excellent account:
It is easy to access online;
An ethical fund is available and indeed promoted;
Well established provider specialising in chidren's investments.
Recommended.

Good Points: Easy to use and to find information before choosing which ISA we wanted
Bad Points: Felt a bit restricted by the ammount but I guess that is what you get with an ISA. It just seemed strange that it wasn't as much as a normal ISA that I would get for myself.
The customer service from Family Investments is great. I had some questions which I originally emailed and I got a really quick response. I didn't really understand some of the details in the response so I phoned them and they were really helpful and explained everything I had questions about. It wasn't that the information was difficult generally, but I was just being picky and trying to understand all the details. I understand the total for a Junior ISA is less than a normal ISA but it falls within the guidelines so it isn't anything to do with Family Investments generally. They were great and they keep in touch regularly by post which I find useful too.

Bad Points: You can touch the money when child is 18.
Not easy to understand it. I did receive a leaflet, and it did not state clearly how much is the % per year. Also it did not state clearly how much do you need to save monthly. In the end I did find it, but to make it so brief is not good.
Also I did not like the fact, taht a child can take the money at 18 earliest, as when there is an emergency, and you take it out, you can't. What a shame. Probably you can, but will loose the percentage. I am not sure about that, as you see, I did not find the information clearly.
